Frequently asked questions

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one among dozens of phytocannabinoids (phyto meaning made by plants) found in cannabis. CBD is non-intoxicating and has shown a wide range of potential benefits.

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is the most popular type of CBD product. It contains oil extracted from hemp’s aerial (above-ground) parts mixed with a carrier oil that helps the body absorb CBD.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) helps the body maintain homeostasis, a healthy state of internal balance. It regulates key physiological processes such as inflammation, immunity, stress, mood, appetite, sleep, and cognition. The ECS consists of endocannabinoids (cannabinoids made by the body), cannabinoid receptors, and metabolic enzymes.

How does CBD work?

CBD supports healthy endocannabinoid system function by influencing the levels of endocannabinoids. It has also been shown to interact with other parts of the central nervous system, such as serotonin receptors.

Is CBD intoxicating?

Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the cannabinoid most people are familiar with, CBD does not cause any mind-altering effects. In simpler terms, CBD will not make you high.

Is CBD safe?

CBD is considered a generally safe substance and has been recognized as having a “good safety profile” by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Does CBD have side effects?

CBD can cause minor side effects, such as dry mouth and drowsiness. The likelihood of experiencing these issues is small, but it is best to speak with your physician about whether clinical CBD is right for you.

Does CBD interact with other medications?

It is best to speak with your physician about any potential interactions CBD may have with medication.

What is the entourage effect?

The entourage effect refers to the synergy between the many different phytocannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, fatty acids, and other natural components of cannabis. Discovered in 1998, this effect suggests that broad spectrum hemp products are more effective than those containing only CBD.

What is CBD isolate?

CBD isolate is a >99% pure form of CBD with no other compounds. Although CBD isolate is widely used in CBD products, it’s not as effective as broad spectrum preparations because it doesn’t utilize the entourage effect.

What is broad spectrum CBD?

Also known as broad spectrum hemp extract, this is a whole-plant hemp preparation that contains CBD alongside the plant’s other cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial compounds, except THC.

What is full spectrum CBD?

Full spectrum CBD is a whole-plant hemp extract containing CBD and the complete range of hemp’s cannabinoids, terpenes, and other phytochemicals, including small amounts (<0.3%) of THC.

What are the benefits of CBD?

Due to FDA and FTC regulations, we cannot make any claims about the potential benefits of CBD. If you’re interested, we encourage you to do your own research by looking at the studies published on Pubmed.gov.

How do I take CBD?

CBD can be taken in many ways, but the three major methods are oral (ingested), topical (applied to the skin), and inhaled (vaped or smoked). Oral CBD oil is the most popular option.

What’s the difference between cannabis, hemp, and marijuana?

Cannabis comes in two main varieties: hemp and marijuana. Hemp plants are often bred to contain high CBD levels and 0.3% or less of THC, the main psychoactive cannabinoid. This amount is not enough to cause intoxication, which is why hemp-derived CBD products are available throughout the U.S. and many other countries around the world. Marijuana is the opposite, containing high THC but lower CBD concentrations, which is why it’s typically illegal.

What’s the difference between hemp oil and hemp seed oil?

Hemp seed oil is cold-pressed from hemp seeds and doesn’t contain any CBD or other cannabinoids. It’s often confused with hemp oil, which is another term for the CBD-rich oil extracted from the aerial (above-ground) parts of hemp.

What’s the difference between CBD and medical cannabis?

Whereas CBD products tend to have low (<0.3%) or nonexistent THC levels, medical cannabis is typically high in THC. Another difference is that medical cannabis can only be accessed through special programs in eligible states, while hemp-derived CBD doesn’t require a prescription.

Where is your hemp sourced from?

All of our hemp comes from non-GMO farms in the USA.

Which extraction process do you use?

We use the carbon dioxide (CO2) method to extract CBD and other beneficial compounds from hemp. This method is considered the gold standard of CBD extraction because it’s safe, clean, and effective, leaving behind no solvents.

What type of CBD do your products contain?

Our products are made with broad spectrum hemp extract. Aside from CBD, this THC-free extract contains other cannabinoids such as CBN and CBG, terpenes, flavonoids, fatty acids, and other natural hemp phytochemicals.

What is nanoemulsion technology?

Nanoemulsion technology is a method of breaking CBD oil molecules down into a microscopic size to greatly increase their bioavailability. We utilize this technology in our capsules to enhance CBD’s absorption, making them far more effective than standard oil-based formulations.

Are your products tested by a third-party lab?

Every batch of our clinical CBD products is tested by an independent third-party lab to verify its safety and potency. These tests confirm that our products contain precise CBD levels and are free of THC, pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, and other contaminants.

How much CBD should I take?

The ideal CBD serving depends on several factors, such as body weight, tolerance, and individual body chemistry. We highly recommend consulting your physician or another qualified health care provider to help figure out the ideal CBD serving for your particular case.

Do your products contain THC?

No, all of our products are made with broad spectrum hemp extract. This extract is free of THC but maintains many of hemp’s other beneficial cannabinoids to maximize the efficacy of the entourage effect.

How should I store CBD products?

CBD products should be kept in a cool, dark, dry place like the refrigerator to prevent CBD’s degradation.
